I picked the Niko crib for my son as I thought it was worth the extra money to have something that would convert into a full-size bed and last him into young adulthood. However, now that I tried to make that conversion I was shocked to find that it does not, in fact, fit with the "Universal" Bedrail. We are seven weeks in now with trying to work with customer service and I was fortunate to have the materials and skillset to fashion a safe makeshift footboard while trying to get solutions. Where the rail meets the headboard and footboard should form a butt joint. That is what is depicted in the manuals and pretty standard for furniture, if anything the head and footboards might be slightly wider. but no, the bed rail sticks out the sides of the headboard and looks like it isn't meant to go together. You will notice in product images that this is conveniently hidden by bedding, additionally, there are many screw holes throughout the piece from different conversions that are also photoshopped out, which seems like a pretty egregious case of false advertising. Additionally, there was no footboard or any way to make the front of my crib function as a footboard. I was told you have to purchase the conversion post as well as the bedrail, $60 for a single piece of wood, and that no product description makes it clear you would need for the full-size bed. I expressed that I did not understand how a single piece of wood would solve the footboard problem and I was assured that there were two pieces that would attach and function as the feet of the footboard. This was incorrect, I end up figuring out on my own that I could remove a leg from the siderail of the crib and use that, but in the 5 weeks I had been talking to customer service no one seemed to know that. On top of all that the center feet float 1.5" off the ground when assembled according to the manual's instructions. I asked if the could tell me theiheight the headboard, footboard and center feet should be, so that I could see if the conversion post would even work, they would/could not. It took the customer service 6 weeks, and assembling the set themselves to figure out a solution, which was to mount the brackets upside down, which doesn't seem great for the mattress or for your bum if you're sitting on the corner. I am now in the process of working with the better business bureau as they are so slow to offer solutions and I am sick of the run-around and them clearly trying to get out of things. Now that they know I filed a complaint with he BBB they finally tried giving me a call (they do not have a customer service line). The lady "happened to get disconnected" when she said was willing to refund me and I asked if they were going to update their product info and pictures to eliminate false advertising and retrain on product info so that someone on the customer service or factory teams actually knows how things go together. I am going to take the refund but continue going through BBB to try to get some of the other issues resolved.
