I finally found a bed that can withstand my puppies chewing habit. At first, I thought he was going to destroy this bed. He went at it for a good two days and now he's actually enjoying it. He's using it as a bench/bed as you can see from these pictures. We approve this bed for puppy chewers. We resisted buying a Kuranda bed for years because the price scared us away. We could have saved ourselves--and our dogs--much aggravation. Dogs love the bed, easy to clean, the Roomba happily vacuums around and underneath it, and no chewed up/torn up/oh-no-did-the puppy-eat-it worries. Note that the Cordura nylon is a bit slicker than the vinyl. Our Lab puppy skids right off but thinks that is part of the fun.Our 8 month old 45 pound adopted pup chewed every single thing we put in her crate, not just chewed, but ATE stuff -- towels, blankets, expensive crate pads -- everything but the toys we put in there. She is only in the crate, with her best doggie buddy in another crate beside her, at night and if we go out (rarely). We despaired of finding anything that was comfortable that she wouldn't chew. Well, this appears to be the dog bed for her! She's slept in there for two nights now and the bed is in perfect condition!!! Usually her crate mats only last a couple of hours, so this is a miracle! It looks good too. The plastic frame is heavy duty PVC, and big enough around that she can't clamp down on it. The fabric is tough too and the bed fits perfectly in the cage.I will update my review as the days go by, but so far, it's WONDERFUL! Highly recommend! (I paid for this bed, not a freebie for a good review!)UPDATE - 6/25/20 - It's been almost a week now with Maggie's new dog bed. It's still in perfect condition - no rips, tears, scratches or teeth marks! I'm overjoyed!!UPDATE - 7/8/20 - This bed is still doing great! Still no marks, rips, tears or chew marks, which is amazing! Maggie chews on everything, but hasn't tried or hasn't managed to do ANYTHING to this bed! HIGHLY RECOMMEND!!I bought this bed to use as an outdoor bed, as my dog loves to nap outside during the day. I have a 43 lb American Foxhound, and I purchased a size Large. She has absurdly long legs that spill over the sides, but for most dogs her weight I think the large size would be plenty big.I had purchased a different bed a few months ago, but it had already started to rust from the rain. I've replaced that bed with this one, and hopefully won't have any more problems with rust spots on my patio! I will update my review if I do, but since the only metal components are the screws, I imagine it will be fine. One thing to note though is that water does not drain through the fabric. So if you do leave it out in the rain, you'll have to dump the water out, as it collects in the middle. The assembly instructions were very clear, and while it does take a little bit of elbow grease, I had no problems getting it assembled. Took probably 20 minutes by myself.Very happy with it on Day 1, and will update in a few months if that changes!I bought this hoping for an unchewable dog bed, and so far, the pup has shown no appetite for this terrific piece of furniture. I bought the medium size (35"×23") for my 23# dog, and the dimensions are perfect...she has room enough to stretch out alone, and can still sleep pretty loosely if a cat joins her there. My model is made of PVC pipe & a heavy canvas-y vinyl cover. I like the rubber cups that fit inside the leg bottoms...this means I don't worry about the hardwoods getting scratched up. Happy with the choice of colors. The cover fits very tightly, so while washing it is an option, it means disassembling the whole thing to do that, so I have another "bed" on top of the platform that absorbs most of the soiling. It's lightweight but feels very solid. I expect it to last for years & years. Very pleased.I've had the bed for five days now. At first, my dog (7 years old, 70 lb Doberman female) was a little apprehensive about the bed, but by nightfall that first night, after I placed one of her sheets over it she spent the night on it and has every night since. She will also nap on it during the day.I'm not a mechanical person at all. As far as assembly, it took me, including unboxing, perhaps 15-20 minutes to assemble. If you have a 7/16" socket & ratchet its easier to use the socket to hold the nut in place (at bottom) while you tighten it (up top) with your phillips head screwdriver. For those who prefer visual inspiration, if you go on Youtube and search "kuranda dog bed" there is a helpful 00:03:53 video with assembly instructions.I know that these beds seem pricey, (currently $95.00 for the XL). My dog is a rescue dog, I've had her since she was 13 months old. Over the years I know that I've spent at least $100.00 on bedding. She has been bad about chewing her bedding up, although her last pad is about a year old, with no signs of chewing, so maybe shes outgrown that. With the Kuranda bed I don't see how she could get a grip on anything to chew. The point is, is that if I'd known about the Kuranda bed 6 years ago I might have came out a few dollars ahead in the bedding department. Also, while I haven't done it yet, they are easier to clean than traditional bedding, in that I can take it outside and hose it off.We have 3 Kuranda beds bought about 12 years ago as outdoor patio beds for our dogs. They are still going strong! Our 12 year old GSP loves his new indoor Kuranda with(separately bought) washable topper! Dogs fuss to get the Kuranda bed! This is preferred by the old big dog over the foam orthopedic beds I've purchased. And MUCH easier to clean! This thing is great for my crate. I’ve been through 5-6 beds prior to this. We’ve had this over a month and there is zero damage to it. Perfect for destructive chewers. My 1 1/2 year old dog has sawed his way through everything. Not this bed. Very happy with it.I was skeptical ordering off the internet as some of us just are. The products were promptly here on the said dates!! I put the bed together easily enough & so glad I finally got this for my dogs!!! Kuranada products are not cheap but from friends I here they are very durable so this year we will put it to test!greatperfect no more chewed beds its saved us a fortune
